It Changed My Life

Changed My Life

In reading Maria’s chapter of "Reading Changed My life" has also changed my life in many ways. I can tell Maria Cárdenas lived her life uncomfortably, and with nothing to call her own, except the plant flower she traveled around from place to place with. She lived in a house of abuse with her father, which to me adds to the uncomfortable, unhealthy family. When I constantly read, something stops me, and I suddenly can relate when Maria says, ‘you have an upper class and lower class". We still have the same concept today, but I realize even if you have all the riches, your home is not always a healthy home. Today most families still go through what Maria has faced in her household. I believe Maria never could grow to be as educated as she may have been due to her behavior of her father. This torment took a tole on her edication, and from my experiences any issues that a child goes through at home can effect your focus in school. From my experience it has brought bad grades, and also phone calls home which did not make the situation any better. In all, I predict that maria will have some kind of inspiration that will help her want to succeed in learning to read, and expand her education.

  1. I agree that it's not fair for a child to go through so much at home since that child is helpless. Unfortunately, these negative experiences have negative consequences throughout their lives. But, these women have persevered and flourished!
