My first blog

The book that has changed my life is "Reading changed my life". This book

is about stories of people just like me and you who has disabilities, such as reading. They have

escalated their minds when all things around them were failing. Which made it completely difficult

for them to succeed. This book has changed my whole attitude around. It has taught me how to be

grateful for everything that I have. I never been through they're struggle, I havnt had they're

problems, and I have never been in they're shoes. An education was to be exspected from me. This

book makes me realize that I have it easy. Which means there is no excuse that I should'nt be able to

succeed. If these people can do it with all this stress on their shoulders, then I  should be able too. I've

also learn to never take things for granted and use to all my knowledge to my advantage, because I

have all the things they did not have. So this book was more like motivation towards me. I can do

whatever I want as long as I work hard. This book has taught me a lesson that will change my life

forever.

Reading Changed My Life

The book Reading Changed My Life is based on three true stories by Beth Johnson. The first story of Maria Cardenas is a very sad story, she talks about her life how she struggled when she was smaller with her education. Her dad would physically abuse her as in brutally beating her and her mother. He was a heavy drinker and did not care about her education. Maria would constantly move from one school to another since her parents worked in the fields. Maria and her family settle down in one place when her father got arrested and was put in jail. One of her teachers offered her a job at a clothing stored her and her husband owned. When Maria turned sixteen her teacher recommended her for a job at a local supermarket and because of her good effort she was promoted as head cashier. Maria thought her suffering had ended when her father was put to jail and she was having the best moments of her life, her happiness ended the night she got sexually abuse by a friend of her brother that worked in the fields with her family. He offered her a ride home but instead of taking her home he sexually abused her and attacked her. This incident change Maria's life completely because she had to run away with him and she ended up pregnant. He was a heavy drinker as well and just like her father he would also beat her. Her brother convinced her to leave him and go back with him and her mother. Maria worked all day at the fields and at the supermarket so she can maintain her daughter Antonietta. Maria started reading off little kindergarten books, since she couldn't read good enough she was embarrassed when her daughter would tell her to read her a story. She started teaching her self how to read books by starting off with the book The Cat in the Hat. Later on she met Alfonso Cardenas whom she marry and had a child with him name Korak. She accomplished her goals and graduated from Edison, she enroll at Florida Gulf Coast University where she is a senior now. Today she is facing a crisis in her own health, she has Hepatitis C, despite the fact she is sick she continues going to college and recently began her student teaching in an elementary school.

Maria Cardenas story is an inspiration to Latinos because she comes from a migrant family and has struggle the way we have struggled. Despite the fact of her struggles and health she never gave up and continue with her education. I can relate to her in some ways because even though I have had obstacles in my life I don't give up easily, I keep trying my best to accomplish my goals.
The book I chose for my blog is called "They Poured Fire on Us from the sky" by Benson Deng, Alephonsion Deng, and Benjamin Ajak. It's a true story based on three lost boys in Sudan. They are separated from their homeland because of the bombing and war that was going on across Sudan between 1987 and 1989 that came into their homeland called Dinkaland. These boys were known as the lost boys because they lost any type of parental guardians from the severe war in Africa. In 2001 they were relocated in a refugee camp in Kenya to the United States as part of  an international refugee relief camp where they met a lady name Judy A. Bernstein that changed their lifes in a good way.
I would definitely recommend this book to all my classmates because you get to know what is going on in the real world were thousands of people are starving to death due to wars or are dyeing of diseases without getting help from other countries. It also teaches you how children in Africa survive in the wildness.
Reading Change my Life: I recently read this book called "Reading Change my Life" This book was an amazing sotry as well as an inspiration. This book was based on three courages women and their struggle to learning how to read. Reading Change my Life is broken down into three sections and each section is a story about the women. I strongly believe that this book change my life because I value my education a lot more. For example, in one of the stories one the women described how she could't go to school because she needed to work and support her family. In fact, I believe that I value life more becaue I know that I didn't have to go through any sexual abuse like the women in the book. Im defenetly grateful for my parents and to see how hard they work for my sisters and I because not all of the parents love and support their children the way my parents do. I can't emphazis how this book change the way I think and see things now. I will most defenetly reccomend this book to everyone I know because I want to have that amazing feeling that I felt after reading this book.

All Quiet on the Western Front

The book that I choose for this blog is “All Quiet on the Western Front” by Erich Maria Remarque. This book is about a group of young guys who volunteer to fight in World War I. Their lives changed completely when they went to the trenches and were bombarded for the first time. At the end he realizes that he his life has changed and only thinks about to fight against hisenemies. I'm about the same age as those guys were once, yet I don’t know how it feels to be in a war. This book has changed me in how I look at a soldier. Now I realize that a soldier fights in a war 24/7 and their lives changes completely. I've heard stories of soldiers that have lost their minds when they came back from wars. They don't sleep well and have Curt for their enemis. I pray for our soldiers every day, because life for them is not good.I am also grateful for their sacrifice.

Reading changed my life

                                               Reading changed my life
After reading this book totally change my life. This book talk about three history. First Maria she be abused for his uncle but she keep strong and give going in his life and education. And she didn't  thats       one of the samples for my live. Like daisy and Julia they also have violence on hers life's. But they never give up and that I'm gonna do on my life keep going with my goals.

The Outsiders

The  book that had an impact in my life was The  Outsiders.  I  read  that  book freshmen year in high  school  with  my  English  teacher. The  story  was  about  Ponyboy's life  as  a  greaser.  As  well as  the  life  of  the  socs  which  was  the  upper  class  rich  kids.  Two  groups  of  a  different  class fighting. The  "impact it  had  on my  life  was  to  not  let  anyone from a higher position  or  thinking they're  superior  than  anyone  else  bring me down.  To  always  have  pride in  were  we  come  from  and  to  stay  away  from  malignent  people.

gods go begging

 by Alfredo Vea

In the novel gods go begging by Alfredo Vea, the author presents this character "Jesse" who's an attorney, that faces different obstacles with his patients, that relates to different situations he's experienced. The main plot starts off about this two women named, Persephone and Mai, who were wives of men in the army, they came together, as relations, so they wouldn't be lonely. They owned a restaurant called, The Amazon Luncheonette, and they were both found killed in front. Jesse is also a veteran of the army. Jesse covers their case, and finds out that Persephone is the wife of A.B. Flyer, who was Jesse's Sergeant. Jesse's other case, with his client, Calvin "biscuit boy", was an overwhelming discovery when he found out that, Calvin used to steal biscuit's from the Amazon Luncheonette, because he always wanted to see Mai, and they thought he was the murderer, because Mai would always deny him and kick him out. The novel has many different occasions, each chapter is about a different situation that's relative to some part of Jesse's life. Everything ties back to the war Jesse was in, and to Persephone and Mai.
I would relate this book to myself, because everything happens for a reason. I can face one obstacle in my life, and twenty years later, here is the obstacle again, but I've learned from the first situation, so I better myself from the second. People have wars within themselves, that's why we give each other hard times, and we don't accept things right away. Every one can overcome difficult situations, if they accept themselves. We have to learn to love ourselves, before we can love some one else. We all come from different circumstances, but that doesn't give us the reason to hate one another. We all need to accept the fact that everybody in the world goes through difficult situations, and we, as the people, need to grow and become more knowledgeable. Just because, your situation is different from mine, doesn't make you superior to me. We are all human beings, and nothing separates us from that.

Reading Changed My Lifeee....

Reading has changed my life. Reading the the story about Maria Cardenas I learned that shes has experienced many hardships throughout her life. She's overcame and excelled those problems to have become a strong woman. Despite her getting sick this lady is a awesome role model and everyone should hear her story. This story has encouraged me to not takes things in life for granted. Take advantage of the things I have and use them to the best of my ability. Also, with the support of my family I will achieve great things.

A Dream Fulfilled: The story of Barack Obama

A Dream Fulfilled: The story of barack Obama is the book I recently read. The story tells that when Barack Obama was a child, he faced obstacle like any African American felt during 1960s. He also faced hardships about his relationship with his father. What I learned from this book is that I should not give up because of one obstacle. I also learned that if I work hard, I can achieve what I want. I learned that I should spend more time with my family while I still have the time and opportunity to spend with them. I learned that in life people faced not only happiness but hardships too. Lastly I learned that I should be grateful of what I have and not take everything for granted.

A child Called "it"

Based on a true story, A child called "it" allows you to step into the shoes of a young boy whose life  drastically changes after his mentally unstable and now alcoholic mother takes her anger and depression out on her only target, him. Once living a normal and healthy life David now has to survive under the conditions bestowed upon him, which include living under the stair case, being submerged under freezing water as well as being forced to consume his own throw up. David knew even at such a young age the only person he had was himself and the only way to see another day was to have the willpower continue. Despite the fact that David suffered both mental as well as physical abuse his inner strength managed to shine through and he overcame his torturous childhood.
One reason this book had such an influence on me is because it allows you to see just how much human spirit can overcome and provide strength in even the toughest of situations. Having read this book  I couldn't believe the things that such a young boy was put through, but what made this story more touching was how such a young boy didn't let it affect him. Davids spirit allowed him to survive his mothers cruelty and injustice. This book will give you another outlook on life, it helped me to realize that no matter how bad I think I might have it there is always someone who has it much worse. It opened my eyes and made me see just how truly blessed I am to have grown up the way that I did and allowed me to look back and appreciate those who were there for me.

READING CHANGED MY LIFE!

This reality novel is based on three different stories about Maria, Daisy, and Julia. Despite their various racial groups and locations, they once encountered eccentric and difficult situations. However, they didn't get accustomed to the situations, they took responsibilities for turning their lives around. They realized  the power of reading, and they achieved the power with strong determination and commitment.

This book has changed my life, by discovering my potentials and responsibilities, most especially to myself and to the society. The power to succeed or to fail are in my hands, but I choose to excel in life. I know it won't come easy, however, it is possible, by determination commitment, diligence, and perseverance. These qualities I have embraced more than before. This is a must read for everyone, because it's not only interesting and sympathetic, but it's motivating, inspiring and educating.

Reading Changed My Life

While reading the story of Maria in Reading Changed My Life. It made me realize how blessed I am today to have a family that gives me the support and a roof to live under of. Hearing upon Maria's life, it made me think about my grandmas life and where she came from. My mother also came from a life similar to Maria's in which she was left pregnant at the age of eighteen. At the age of eighteen, my mom met my dad through church where then she fell in love with him. While having to deal with a new father figure for my sister, or as you would say, half sister, we can infer that it took awhile for her to come comfortable with some stranger that had just entered her life. Education was the first priority our mom had for each and every one of us out of three. Being raised by my wonderful mother, we have all grown up to independent and graduate high school with 3.5 GPA's or higher. Just looking back at how it all started makes me realize that God has blessed me a long the way with an amazing and supportive family.

It Changed My Life

Changed My Life

In reading Maria’s chapter of "Reading Changed My life" has also changed my life in many ways. I can tell Maria Cárdenas lived her life uncomfortably, and with nothing to call her own, except the plant flower she traveled around from place to place with. She lived in a house of abuse with her father, which to me adds to the uncomfortable, unhealthy family. When I constantly read, something stops me, and I suddenly can relate when Maria says, ‘you have an upper class and lower class". We still have the same concept today, but I realize even if you have all the riches, your home is not always a healthy home. Today most families still go through what Maria has faced in her household. I believe Maria never could grow to be as educated as she may have been due to her behavior of her father. This torment took a tole on her edication, and from my experiences any issues that a child goes through at home can effect your focus in school. From my experience it has brought bad grades, and also phone calls home which did not make the situation any better. In all, I predict that maria will have some kind of inspiration that will help her want to succeed in learning to read, and expand her education.

A Child Called "It"

A Child Called "It" By Dave Pelzer is a very sad true story of a little boy whos mother was an alcoholic. She would abuse him and play torturous games with him, she would brutally beat him and starve him for days untill she fealt it was time for him to eat. The little boy did not even have a room with a bed and toys like a regular child would, he slept in the bacment with only an army coat to cover himself and to sleep on. Dispite all the bad things that happen to him he never gave up and keept trying to survive. This book made me see things in a diffrent way because im always complaining how my mom is mean or dosent let me go out as much. In reality it is nothing compared to what Dave Pelzer had to go through. Many people complain about little thing that are not that significant and once it starts to get hard they give up. People should see the example of Dave Pelzer and what he went through he is now a very successful man because he was able to over come his fears and never gave up, in 1994 he was honored as one of the outstanding young persons of the world.

Always Running

Always Running, by Luis Rodriguez,  talks about his life in East L.A. Where gang warfare, drugs, and murder was the way of life. But Luis saw a way out by education, knowledge , and wisdom. Soon after he escapes the violence and depression of the gang life and creates a new way of life. Luis now tells his own story to his son, who he delicates his book too, to let him know the experience and destruction of being a gang member.
This book was assigned for summer reading for 8th grade but, I read it during 7th grade for my independent reading. Always Running change my perspective of living the life of the la vida loca. Change my interest in music, activities, and to gain more knowledge from elders who went through the la vida loca. I was a mindless, not open minded teen who all teens think they are all invincible. But after reading this book and seeing what the life later would soon be. Made me realize, I can do better and be an achiever. And not end up dead, get a girl pregnant at such a young age, or in prison. Now, I see old friends who hadn't change and still doing in their lives.

Calvin and Hobbes

As a child before I went to bed I would always want to read a book. My Brother introduced me to the comic strip books Calvin and Hobbes. This book is good in so many ways. The best part of the book were the pictures. I love book with pictures in them. I couldn't stop laughing at the things the book had in it. The jokes were funny. I was really never interested in reading in general. This book changed my life because it made reading fun. It wasn't as boring as I thought it was.

I wasn't able to go to sleep not knowing that I haven't read at least on comic strip from the book. It made learning how to read easy. The more I read the more I started learning new words and how to use them even though it was a comic book. I learned the more you read no matter what you read you will eventually build your vocabulary knowledge up.

Handle With Care

The novel, Handle With Care, written by Jodi Picoult, is about a young girl named Willow, who suffers with brittle bone syndrome, which prevents her from living a normal life. Willow’s bones break on a normal basis and she always has a cast on at least one part of her body. Her family struggles with the medical payments and the constant worrying that something terrible might happen to their daughter or sister. By reading this novel, I now appreciate my life. I used to always think that my life was horrible and meaningless but after reading Handle With Care, I realized that there are so many people out there that are struggling through something a lot worse than me. I feel so pathetic that I complained about the smallest things that didn’t even matter. My little problems don't even compare to the horrible and tragic events that people are going through right now.  I now see life in a completely different way.  I am grateful for what I have and will always remember to thank everybody who has made my life perfect the way it is.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants

As a child i didn't like to read at all because reading wasn't my thing. the only time ill read a book was only to put myself to sleep, but all of that changed once i got my hands on the book Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey. This book is about two kids George Beard and Harold Hutchins who were trouble makers that loved to pull pranks and make inventions. They also had a school principle that was cranky and mean, and one day George and Harold hypnotized Mr.Krupp (there principle) and made him a super hero that goes around saving people in a cape and his underwear.

This book has really changed my life as a kid because it made reading a lot more fun and interesting for me. Whenever i read these books they would keep me wide awake because i would be laughing most of the time. This book made me realize that not all books are boring and dull, some can be entertaining or maybe even touching. all i know is that if i found this book very entertaining as a kid than maybe other kids will too.

Junie B. Jones

As a child I liked to read the Junie B. Jones series by Barbara Park. My one time favorite book that I liked from Barbara Park is called, "Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus." Her real name is Junie Beatrice Jones but she didn't like people calling her Beatrice so she would always abreviate it with "B." This book is about how she didn't like to go to school especially having to ride the bus. Influenced by one of her best friends Lucille to not ride the bus especially because she will get bullied on. Although she felt animosity about going to school she ends up going. In school she learned that school wasn't so bad as she thought it was. She is very amiable towards making new friends and made antagonists as well as, what she considered "rivals". Even though she would hear other children not liking school, she learned how to like school and igmore others.

I can say that I read most of the Junie B. Jones seires but my inclination towards this specific book is because I can relate to it. When I started kindergarten I remember not wanting to go because it seemed to be as how my older brother would describe it, and would demoralize me of wanting to go to school. Also, I remember meeting another girl who wasn't so friendly to me. Despite all what was going on I learned to like school, I actually looked forward to going to school. This book changed my life because as I got older I thought different of school. How enjoying school would make learning intresting. Another reason why, is because I learned that you shouldn't let anyone influence you. I think you should go ahead and try things yourself and you will learn from it. I would recommend these books to kids beause each book has its main idea which kids can learn from, understand better, but most importantly feel confident about themselves by knowing they're not the only ones feeling or going thru the same situation.
